"A big divisional game on Monday night. That's going to be a power struggle all the way, a real good game."

Seattle Seahawks 21 - San Francisco 49ers 28

We almost had 'em.

The first half of this game was probably the most exciting game we've had all year. Well, maybe the Minnesota game was the most exciting, but this one ranks right up there. For two quarters of play, I thought we gave up the conservative playbook. We were throwing long passes (longer than 3 yards, that is) and making some trick hand-offs on running plays; we put big time pressure on Jeff Garcia and made him throw away the ball on several occasions! The ever-reliable Engram was a primary target on offense, and Mack Strong continued to set some great blocks. Things were working and it was FUN football!!!

The pain that usually accompanies a loss wasn't really there for me tonight because we played really well. This is such an improvement over the first three games. We played a very good team and came out of it looking respectable. That's a step in the right direction.

The media always makes a big deal of the pressure of playing on Monday Night Football. It was apparent at the start of the game, especially with Dilfer's passes getting a little too much air. I think it was also apparent by the enthusiasm of the crowd! WAY TO GO Seattle Fans!! We heard you and we heard you LOUD!! That's the advantage our boys need!! Keep up the good work!!

The most exciting play in the game, in my opinion, is the punt return when Engram ran it in for a touchdown, eluding tackles and making it happen! That was SO cool!! It brought Charlie Rogers to mind and for a moment or two I was sad all over again, but it didn't take long to remember that this is not the first time Engram has come through for us. He's a proven receiver in 3rd down situations and I think he has the potential to have more of an impact on other downs as well! This was an exciting game for Bobby Engram!

The most disappointing moment to me came before the two minute warning when we let 30 seconds tick off the clock without calling a time-out. As it turns out, the Rams got the first down anyway so it became irrelevant, but if we'd have been able to hold them we sure could have used those extra seconds. This is one of those Holmgren Moments that we had last year when I question his football savvy. (Oh, I'll get in trouble for saying that!!!) I'm obviously no guru, I'm "just" a fan, but I'd have called a time-out and saved those seconds!

On a bit of a different note, I wonder how many of you saw the commercial with Shaun Alexander in which the woman was playing the guitar, singing that awful song? The camera pans over to Shaun, who is dressed like a flower!! hee hee! I love Shaun Alexander! He's so personable and has such compassion! I hope if you all get a chance you'll make a donation to his foundation.

I also can't let the Terrell Owens autograph story get away!! It was hilarious when he reached into his sock after scoring the touchdown to pull out a pen. He autographed the football and handed it to his buddy in the stands! What a riot!! (Does that remind anyone else of a hotdog eating incident a few years ago?!?)

Next up is St. Louis! I'll be there at the game with the Mid West Sea Hawkers so my game report will be delayed as I travel around the Mid West that week! I can't wait for the tailgate party and game!! If you find yourself there in St. Louis, look for us in the parking lot across from the stadium near the Holiday Inn Select hotel! You can't miss us -- we'll have Seahawks banners flying!!!
