WEEK BY WEEK
With Mike Holmgren

Preseason Week 1: "Mike Holmgren ... He doesn't look happy but I'm sure he is." -- Pat Summerall, following a touchdown by the Seahawks

Preseason Week 2: "Seneca comes in and, bless his heart, gives us a spark." -- Coach Mike Holmgren

Preseason Week 3: "It's encouraging to me after last week, because we didn't play real hard last week." -- Coach Mike Holmgren

Seattle 24 - Miami 17

Yes, we won. But it was oooooonnnnne scaaaaaaaarrrry game!

Mike Holmgren should personally write a thank you note to Boulware for his game saving interception. He may have single-handedly saved Holmgren's career in Seattle.

As much as I'd like to bag on Seattle for a sloppy game and on Holmgren for any number of things he did that irritate me, I don't want to take away from the victory or the importance of this victory. A loss to Miami under the circumstances of which they're in would have made us the laughing stock of the NFL; the perpetual underachievers. We barely saved face but we saved face, and this victory puts us in the lead of our division. We have a soft schedule ahead, if there is such a thing, and a real possibility of winning the division title. Beyond that, well, it's going to take a whole lot of effort, but before we look that far ahead we need to wrap the division title up.

I believe in this team, for some weird and wonderful reason. We're wounded, we've got discipline problems, we've not offered our key RB a long-term contract -- but I do believe that we can pull off the division title. And IF we pull off the title, maybe the rest will fall into place.

I'll be there. With nail-bitten fingers and a lot more gray hair than I had at the start of the season, I'll be watching, pacing, hoping and believing. Are the rest of you still in?
