Seattle Seahawks 10 - Buffalo Bills 24

My thoughts on our first pre-season game are positive overall. It doesn't matter to me that we lost; it wasn't our first string playing for much of the game.

Our defense was spectacular!! I can't say enough about how good they were! We had some interceptions, some sacks, and we were quick to get to the ball carrier! I'm very pleased and very encouraged!

Our special teams did a nice job, too! If you remember the days when Rusty Tillman was special teams coach, you'll remember how important their contribution can be! Again, I'm very encouraged by our performance today!

Offense? Wellllllll...I'm more hesitant to pass out the high fives but there are plenty of positives to talk about! The Kitna to Pritchard connection is working just fine! All the stories we've read from training camp seem to pan out! I like it! Kitna hit Fauria a couple of times and that too is a positive sign. Knowing how Holmgren likes to utilize the tight end more than we've seen in past years, it's great that Fauria was able to make some receptions! We saw a lot of Michael Black in the second half and wasn't he exciting to watch! I would love to see him get some playing time this season! Watters didn't have a lot of success but he hasn't had a lot of playing time due to injuries so I think we can go easy on him for now. His leadership provides a great deal to the team.

OK, OK! I know you want to talk about Foley. It wasn't his best performance. Well, I HOPE it wasn't his best performance!! (hee hee!) I don't know what to say. I thought he was about to redeem himself when he threw that interception at the goal line. All I can offer to fellow Seahawks fans is the hope of a better showing next week. I'm not about to give up on him!!

Want to evaluate Huard? Actually I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter. I guess he wasn't on the field long enough for me to draw a conclusion. Those of you who saw him play in college might want to write to me and I'll share your comments with other fans!

We got to see the instant replay utilized! What did you think about that!? Personally I thought it was a touchdown for the Bills but if the replay is based on "conclusive" proof, I wouldn't have overturned it either. From the angle we were shown, I doubt anyone could be positive that it was a touchdown.

On the other hand, I wish Holmgren would have challenged the fumble recovery when we came up with the ball. Curiously I wonder what would have happened if the play had been overruled. The Seahawks came up with the fumble and ran it into the end zone, but whistles had blown. If we'd been awarded the ball, would the touchdown have counted or would we have taken possession at the spot of the fumble recovery? Tricky situation given that whistles had blown. Instant replay isn't going to be perfect!

It was nice to see Steve Largent and Jacob Green at half time! It warms the heart to see our boys back home!!

We've got some work to do before regular season but I'm pretty positive about the game today! Goooo Seahawks!
