"He has done nothing but tell us he should
be on the football
team. He's the classic example of a guy that doesn't count
numbers; he just plays hard. Every year I've been around somebody like that
who makes the
football team." -- Mike Holmgren on Kerry Carter

"Kansas City has a good offensive unit,
and it was just like a measuring stick for us. We missed a couple
of tackles and all that, but we're going to be
a good defense. We're going to be real
good."
-- D.D. Lewis

"We need our big honkers on the defensive line." -- Mike Holmgren

    Exhibition Game 3:
    Seattle 42 - Kansas City 31

I LIKED IT!!! I saw so many positives in this game!

First off, Hasselbeck looked SO good! After last week's game, I'm so relieved and encouraged to see him complete passes. The fact that we scored 42 points means we're capable of offense!! WA HOOO! Our receivers caught balls. Darrell Jackson made a sideline reception look like a piece of cake and K-Rob came through with some nice catches. Heath Evans took some flack last week for poor play but he made up for it this week.

I'm not as impressed with our defense this week. We had some terrific defensive plays and then we'd let the big one get by. I've got to say that those slip ups worry me. When the Chiefs beat Springs for a TD, yeah, I was disappointed. And way too many times Trent Green had all day to throw. I'd like to see a bit more pressure on our opponent's quarterback.

Special teams -- ei-yi-yi-yi-yi!!! What happened? Can't we field a kick-off? Where's our punter? Mr. Rodriguez, what's going on? I'm going to assume that this was just one of those fluky things that happens once a pre-season. Our special teams can't be as bad as they were in this game! I will commend Josh Brown for the 50 yard field goal thought! That was tons of fun!

Did you see #32, Kerry Carter and his fight after the point of contact?!?! I'm not sure what plans the Seahawks have for this man but I sure liked the fighting spirit I saw in this game!! I wish him lots of luck! He could be my next Tyree Davis!! :-)

On a side-note, I liked the dark uniforms a lot better than I liked last week's whites. Maybe I had better video feed this week but the blue looked brighter and nicer.

I was watching the broadcast meant for my area, thus I had a biased play-by-play for the Chiefs. At the end of the game they had a Dairy Queen Ice "CREAM" of the game, in which they recognized the KC player with the best hit, aka "cream", of the game! HOW CORNY IS THAT?!?! :-) Someone was reaching on that one!!

Now it's your turn! Send me your thoughts on the game and I'll post them right here!

    Mildly Disappointing - Game Three
Posted by Sharpclaw on 8/24/2003, 5:27 pm

The VERY good news again was that we did not suffer any serious injuries. That is a key in these pre-season contests. S Hamlin returned, showing his toughness, and even intercepted a pass in the game. Our punting game is clearly not up to NFL standards. That is a major concern. Hopefully, the Australian punter obtained from Denver can stabilize the position. The run defense still needs to improve. Giving up 4.7 yards/attempt just won't get it done. The good news was the #2 QB Dilfer looks to be improving on his conditioning, and might be able to assume the #1 backup role by the start of the regular season. That, to me, is a key, as we have no one else on the current roster prepared to step in for QB Hasselbeck should he get nicked in a game. FB Heath Evans is still a strong possibility to be traded prior to the start of the season if possible. RB Hunter and RB Davis are showing well. St. Louis has no one at FB right now; but it is not desirable to trade with a division rival. Should we waive FB Evans on the final roster reduction, he would most surely be claimed by St. Louis. Probably also FB Davis. This makes the final reductions difficult for us at that position in particular. Overall, I believe we are pretty well on track to prepare the team for the regular season; but there is still much work to do. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!

Two moments on the football field that I will NEVER FORGET as a Seahawk fan.

#1: Seeing Ricky Watters with tears streaming down his face during the pregame ceremonies for those fallen during 9/11.

#2: Seeing tears stream down Dilfer's face after last night's touchdown pass.

Some things are just bigger than a football game.

"I thought this was the best Larry [Johnson] has looked all preseason. Of course, running with the first-unit offensive line helps because those guys are as good as any group in the league." -- Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil
