Between a Rock and a Hard Place
by Aron Ralston

Overview
From the Publisher
One of the most extraordinary survival stories ever told -- Aron Ralston's searing account of his six days trapped in one of the most remote spots in America, and how one inspired act of bravery brought him home.

It started out as a simple hike in the Utah canyonlands on a warm Saturday afternoon. For Aron Ralston, a twenty-seven-year-old mountaineer and outdoorsman, a walk into the remote Blue John Canyon was a chance to get a break from a winter of solo climbing Colorado's highest and toughest peaks. He'd earned this weekend vacation, and though he met two charming women along the way, by early afternoon he finally found himself in his element: alone, with just the beauty of the natural world all around him.

My thoughts
This was an amazing book! It's not a book I would typically read, especially because we know heading into the story that the author is going to lose his arm. I'm really not much into blood and gore and gross stuff. Having said that, I could read every bit of this book without getting grossed out or feeling sick to my stomach. What an amazing man Aron Ralston is!

The fact that Aron Ralston recorded so much of his disaster is mind boggling. That he had the presence of mind to leave recorded messages for his family, assuming that one day they would be found, is utterly astonishing. That he thought things through seemingly logically, and that he had the strength and resolve to make it through the cold nights is more impressive than I can begin to describe. He's one amazing survivor!

The story is incredible and deserves to be shared. Good for Aron Ralston for doing it in a very classy and respectful manner!
