Stories We Heard About Hope
by Bruce Bickel & Stan Jantz

Overview
From the publisher:
Popular authors Bruce and Stan are on the journey of a lifetime! Throughout the summer of 2000, they are driving across America, visiting 25 cities and 20 colleges in just three months! What is the reason for this ambitious trip? To collect the stories of real people—-stories of Love, Joy, Hope, and Forgiveness. Through meetings with prominent people in each city and "man on the street" interviews, Bruce and Stan will share with readers the wisdom gleaned from the inhabitants of both the highways and the back roads of the United States.

My thoughts
Yes, I've been hanging out at bookcloseouts.com again! I love that place! What can I say?!?!? :-) They had a gigantic sale where they marked down books to the point that I couldn't refuse. If it's a $2.00 book and it remotely interests me, it's mine! That's how I came across this book.

I will admit that I wouldn't have purchased this book had I seen it on store shelves because it looks like a gift book. You know, the kind you receive from someone who doesn't really know what else to give you. The kind you give because, well, you want to give them something but you don't want to spend a lot. You know what I'm talking about!

I did read the book since I'd bought it however, and it's a very nice book. This is one in a series by the authors who traveled across America looking for stories from real people; stories of people who overcame life's challenges whether they were physical, mental or spiritual. The books are filled with religious inspiration.

Would I recommend this book to you? Perhaps not for every day reading, but I do think it's a wonderful book to give to someone who is struggling. If you want to reach out to someone to show them you care, sure, this would be a lovely gesture. A gift of hope, something that might spur them on. It wasn't what I expected, but it's quite nice.
