One for the Money
A Stephanie Plum Novel
by Janet Evanovich

Overview
From the Publisher
Janet Evanovich made her spectacular debut with this witty and critically acclaimed crime novel. Meet Stephanie Plum of Trenton, New Jersey. She's a rookie bail bondswoman who has the awkward habit of leaping first and looking later when she's out snagging bail jumpers. It's not a job for the faint at heart, but it'stailor-made for Plum. In One for the Money, rookie Stephanie Plum may be a bit wet behind the ears, but nobody's going to take it easy on her; especially her first skip, an ex-cop and murder suspect named Morelli.

My thoughts
This is the fourth Stepanie Plum novel I've read, and I'm still hooked on these silly and steamy books! I've been reading them out of order, which doesn't really matter, but it was interesting to go back and read the first one after having read others. Now I understand a few of the references in later books, but I like the writing style better as the characters develop in later books. Book One was a little scary there for a while. I was reading in bed late one night with my window open when I heard a sound outside! I closed and locked my window immediately, lying in bed listening intently for any other sounds! I heard every creak in the roof until I finally fell asleep! Most of the books are so humorous that the bad parts don't affect me that way, but this one packed a harsh punch!

For the most part, the books are light and fun reading with such outrageous stunts that you'll be laughing out loud. A great book when you want an escape from reality.

Favorite Passage
[When approaching street walkers in a shady part of town...]
"Hey girl," one of the lovelies called out. "What you think you doing here? This here's our corner, you dig?"

It would appear there was a fine line between being a babe from teh Burg and looking like a hooker.
