Spirit of 1976!

yeah...unbelievable can't describe it. I thought it was over...and then they showed me the cookie jar....wide open with my favorite cookies inside. I grabbed at it, pulled it out of the jar. Brought it to my mouth...and dropped it. Then I just stood there while the dog ate up all the crumbs. Man I feel like we just lost twice today....and we did.

Seahawks 30 - Broncos 36

What a tease.

I thought it was all but over when Denver scored their final 4th quarter touchdown but good old prevent defense came to our rescue! I've never liked it...until today!!

We had so many chances to (1) win the game and (2) lose this game. It could have gone either way with a little luck or a little less luck. But when it boils down to it, we didn't deserve to win. We didn't earn a victory. And now our work is cut out for us.

Don't despair. This wasn't a must-win for our play-off hopes but the next two games certainly are. We made great improvement over the past two games. We were almost good enough this week. It's going to take something special to beat Kansas City next week but we have home field advantage and the knowledge that we were able to beat them once already this season. We can do it. But it won't be easy.

Do we want to re-hash the game? It's painful to think about. I wonder how many people actually got to see it?

We had moments of brilliance and moments of disaster. I think the part that hurt us most was the defense's inability to consistently stop plays. So many times on third and miles, Denver got the first down and more. That was very frustrating to see time and time again. Where was our defense on big plays like that when we needed to hold them?

I thought DAR-RYL Williams had a great game. I saw him making a lot of tackles and yet he wasn't credited for them. The stats show that he had one tackle. OK Stat Gurus! I need an explanation for that one! I don't get it!

I thought Shawn Springs had a great game today. The interception in the end zone was a terrific play. Phillip Daniels had two sacks again today. I've heard some negative comments about him in the past but it seems to me he's one of our strongest and most consistent players. I still don't understand how we can get penetration on defense but miss the tackles. I'd like to see a stat for opponent's second effort yardage. I'll bet it would be scary.

Penalties absolutely killed us, though I'm not sure I'd go to bat for the officials in today's game. Let's just say there was a lot of holding going on that wasn't flagged and a few flags thrown that were pretty ticky-tacky calls. I'm unimpressed.

All in all, we didn't take advantage of good situations. We had receivers dropping passes again, Kitna threw consistently too high, and to all of you who don't like the running game, I think we should have run Ricky Watters more today! He was having a great day!!

It's back home to Seattle now for a must-win game next week against the Chiefs! If you have coping techniques on how to survive the game, send them to me!!!!!
