"The protection wouldn't have been any better for Glenn [Foley]."

-- Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren

Seahawks 3 - Tampa Bay 16

Relax. We'll survive. It's OK.

Certainly not fun, certainly not what we had in mind, certainly not acceptable...but it's not a crisis either. IF we had to have a game where absolutely nothing went right on offense, then let it be at 8-2 to a non-division team.

First let me compliment our defense! Outstanding job today! 5 sacks distributed between Brown, Daniels, Hanks, LaBounty and King as well as some terrific, hard hitting tackles. Great pressure from Sinclair and Kennedy! Canty did a great job filling in for Willie Williams, especially since we'd heard that he'd be a big target. DAR-RYL and Shawn had some great plays.

And...we got out of the game today without any serious injuries of which I'm aware.

But I'm not sure I can think of anything else positive to say about our team.

Our best wishes go to Trent Dilfer on a quick and full recovery. Trent broke his collarbone when he was sacked by Phillip Daniels. He watched the remainder of the game from the sidelines, cheering on his replacement, King. A classy move and great sportsmanship. Always nice to see.

There's not much point in discussing the specifics of the game. Kitna obviously had an off day, as did the offensive line. Yes, Tampa Bay has great defense but when our QB throws 5 interceptions and has 2 fumbles it's pretty hard to win ball games. We had some ridiculous penalties and I felt the officiating was downright poor, but we got the good end of some bad calls so I guess I won't complain too loudly. There's not a lot more to say about today's game. Chalk this one up to experience.

We know we can play better. We know we have to play better. And we will.

Let's do it in Oakland!
