"The Seahawks have never been known for being tough or physical. But that's changing, baby."

Seattle Seahawks 22 - Oakland Raiders 21

Was that incredible or what?!?!?

Ohhhh, Seahawks!!! That was so much fun I can hardly stand it!!

First off, I want to compliment the Raiders for such a good game. I really felt the Raiders had the momentum throughout most of the first half, attributed to nothing but skill and determination. They were a good match, almost too good of a match(!), for a Seahawk team that came to the Kingdome to win the game! Raider Fans, you've got quite a team on your hands this year. No one should take your team lightly.

Now ... the fun stuff!!!

WE WON!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOO!!! Do I want to gloat?!? Oh yes I do!!! This was a tough game. Did you see the intensity on the faces of the players? Did you see how hard they worked on EVERY down?? Was your heart racing as fast as mine?! The Raider offense was doing everything right and we were fighting so hard to stop them and we were struggling, struggling and struggling some more. But we never gave up! We just kept pounding!! This is a Never Say Die team attitude that's been missing in recent years! GOOOOO SEAHAWKS!!! I am SO excited about our attitude!!

The Raider defense was equally aggressive. Our line couldn't protect Kitna as he was under pressure on nearly every play in the first half. But Kitna didn't crumble! He stayed in the pocket to complete passes, he scrambled to avoid sacks, but most importantly, he remained cool and composed under extreme pressure!! Is that the sign of maturity and leadership, or what?!?!?! NFL, take notice of Jon Kitna! He IS something special!! Seahawk fans have known it all along and now the rest of the league gets to find out too!!

I won't go into many plays. Since the game was nationally televised most of you (at least those of you in the US) got to see the game, but an incredible play that deserves mention is when Kitna was under pressure, feeling the heat of a sack, threw across his body to Reggie Brown who made a great play to catch the ball and scored a TOUCHDOWN! That was amazing!! For everyone who was worried about whether or not the Hawks could score on offense, we rest our case!!

Did you all see how pumped Coach Rodriguez was with the great play of Special Teams?!? Ohhh YES!!! I am SO happy for him!!! We've had great moments in Special Teams and we've had some of those moments we don't really want to remember in our first four games, but today it was glory all the way!!

If I hadn't been so impressed with Jon Kitna's poise, I would have voted Charlie Rogers as player of the game. I suppose that may not be fair given that most of the players on the team deserve the title as well. We ALL played well today!! But Charlie Rogers is making a name for himself and I must give him special recognition for a game played well! He is turning into a terrific return man and I can't say enough about how important field position can be!! We all know how exciting it is to see the ball in the hands of (grrrrrr...) Joey Galloway. I'm going to make a prediction that we're going to feel the same way when Charlie Rogers gets his hands on the ball! Anything can happen!! This is going to be so much fun to watch him as he gets more experience and confidence!! Woooo Hooooo!!

I just can't stop saying it!! I'm riding the Blue Wave and it feels SO good!!

Kudos to Coach Holmgren too!! We've seen this time and time again. We go into the locker room at half time needing adjustments for one reason or another, and we come back out with the right moves. That's something that hasn't always happened in the past for the Seahawks. There were times in past seasons when we got discouraged early on and never could get out of our slump. There were times we came back out after half-time looking exhausted. This was a very physical game and I was worried that we wouldn't be able to maintain that level of play in the entire second half, but Holmgren's conditioning program has paid off!! Oh Seahawks, BE PROUD of the extra work you've put in this pre-season!! WE CAN SEE THE RESULTS!!!

And another thing I've noticed about Coach Holmgren's team is that we are improving each week. We're by no means perfect but can't you see in the player's attitudes and body language that they believe in themselves? Couldn't you hear it in the fans in the second half when they decided to back the players? The 12th Man is back!!! You go #12!!!! Our players heard you and responded!! Keep up the fantastic work!!!

Whew! I'm getting charged up reliving this!! It was SUCH a fun game and a tremendous showing on Sunday Night Football!!!

I don't know how many of you have found the page yet but I've added a Seahawks Message Board to my site. If you want to talk about the game, feel free to go there and add your post! It's brand new so there aren't many posts there yet, but I'd love to see it turn into a lively forum for Seahawks Fans!!

This team, this year, this attitude is SO awesome! The players who have been with us so long deserve a year like this! The fans who have stayed with the team through thick and a whole lot of thin deserve a year like this! The veterans who brought leadership to our team from their experiences with another team deserve this success for what they've added to the Seahawks! And the rookies ... they're the lucky guys who got in at the right time!! hee hee!!

It's only Week 4. We've got a LOT of season ahead of us and anything could happen. We have a lot of work cut out for us and the San Diego game can't be taken lightly coming off a bye week. Let's not get over-confident ... but cripes, it's going to be a long time till October 17!!!! How are we going to sit through next weekend with no Seahawk football???

We love you, Seahawks!!! THANK YOU for this victory!!

"I'm glad he missed it," Holmgren said of Mark Husted's 61-yard field goal attempt that fell short for Oakland as time expired.
