Povitica Bread (Snail Bread)

Filling:
1 can evaporated milk
1 heaping cup of sugar
2 sticks margarine
1 1/2 pounds pecans, finely ground
4 eggs
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon cocoa
1 teaspoon cinnamon

 
 
 
In a heavy pan over medium heat, add sugar to milk. Then add margarine. Add nuts and continue cooking. Beat eggs, add to nut mixture and mix well. Boil one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add salt, cocoa and cinnamon. Mix well. Let cool until just warm enough to spread on dough.

Note: We drizzled a mixture of powdered sugar/vanilla/water on top to add a little extra sweetness. Makes three loaves. More...
