Seattle Seahawks 14 - Washington Redskins 27

There were moments of brilliance in this game! The one-handed catch by Christian Fauria is highlight film material! He had another catch where he caught the ball as he was tumbling and managed to hold on! Engram had a nice 27 yard reception, and Alexander's 41 yard run for a touchdown was awesome! Early in the game when Hasselbeck was under pressure, he stepped forward in the pocket and threw a pass to James Williams. Koren Robinson, who for the most part failed as a receiver today, made a terrific block for Williams who ended up with a 49 yard play and a 1st and Goal!! Unfortunately, on the very next play Hasselbeck was sacked, he fumbled the ball and the 'skins recovered.

That's the way this game went. Every time we had a momentum-gaining play, we did something stupid to negate the positives. I have no idea how a team can be so hot on one play and so inept on the next.

It was a game of dropped passes by receivers. They made some difficult catches and missed some easy ones. It didn't matter whether Hasselbeck was in at quarterback or whether it was Dilfer, good passes were dropped, the line didn't protect the quarterback, and we gave the game away.

I will admit I was chanting for Dilfer to come into the game at half time and I was happily surprised to see that Holmgren put him in. After the first series, the excitement level kicked up a notch with Dilfer attempting long passes. I truly believe he's the better quarterback of the two, however I don't think this week's game is a valid judge of that given that our receivers weren't having good days.

On defense, it was nice to see Chad Brown get another sack. I would like to have seen us put more pressure on Banks, but even when we did it seemed that they were running a screen that worked beautifully. The 'skins ran at will, blowing past our defenders. Their first touchdown resulted from a fake reverse, and then a few plays later a fake screen. They burned us twice in one series.

I'm not sure why we didn't challenge the touchdown of the Redskins that put them up 20 to 7. It didn't appear to me as though the ball crossed the goal line and we certainly would have had time to challenge the play if we wanted to. Holmgren stood calmly on the sidelines with his arms folded across his chest during the goal line defense showing no emotion. Perhaps the cameras caught him at bad times but I'm surprised he wasn't talking to his coaches or players, or questioning the touchdown call.

In any case, we made the Redskins look a whole lot better than they were. They didn't take advantage of two early interceptions that were handed to them at the 30 yard line, coming away with field goals instead of touchdowns, and still we let them win the game. Pretty disappointing stuff.
