"To come back when you're down, to not quit, to have faith you're going to do it, that says a lot about a football team."

-- Seahawks Quarterback Glenn Foley

Seattle Seahawks 14 - Bears 13

Wheeeeeeeeew! I'm still having trouble breathing! Did we really win? WE DID!!!

I'll take a victory any way I can get one but don't think for a second I'll go light on our boys today. And I'll get to that in just a minute but right now I have a few things to say about Canty.

When things looked as sad as sad can be, Canty showed us extra effort. If he didn't get an interception with the first pass he batted down, then he tried again on the second pass he batted down, and then again on the third! When it looked as though we wouldn't be able to find any positives, he gave us hope. Congrats, Canty!!

The announcers said that Mayes' receptions changed the momentum of the game. I disagree. I think the credit goes to Holmgren. Whatever he said to the boys in the locker room made them hungry. They didn't exactly come back out after half time on fire, but they managed to get some positive yardage for the first time all day. It wasn't much but it was enough. Thank you Coach Holmgren and thank you Seahawks for finding just enough to give us a victory!

There were some positives in the game, even in the dismal first half! Charlie Rogers did a nice job with punt returns. He put us in good field position early in the first quarter. We weren't able to do anything with it this time but when we get our offense together, plays like that will make a BIG difference!

Merton Hanks had a terrific sack when he sped through the line faster than the speed of light!! Welcome to the Seahawks, Mr. Hanks! We're glad to have you!!!

Now. About the rest of the game...

We fumbled. We got sacked. We botched a punt. We got sacked. We had a personal foul. We got sacked a few more times. We ran into the receiver on a fair catch. We dropped passes. All that was horrible.

But the very worst of what I saw was the lack of effort. It seemed as though a couple of players on each play put effort into their work while the others stood around. And it didn't seem to be consistent. It was almost as if they called it in the huddle. On this play, you and you do the work. The rest of us will help out next play.

I'm sorry if that's harsh but that's how it appeared to me. After one sack, I watched the replay closely. Our offensive line didn't attempt to block the defenders, we simply stood up and stepped back. We retreated. WHY? I just couldn't believe my eyes.

It was a disappointing game. We won and for that I'm thankful, but if the Bears gave us trouble (and let's face it, the Bears were horrible today -- they should have put the game away in the first quarter) we have a lot of harsh realities to face.

I was surprised when I received an e-mail at the start of the game from a die hard Seahawks fan in Australia. Mark Dickenson woke up around 3am to tune into the game via the Internet! Even when we were down, he believed in our Seahawks!

There are SO many die hard fans out there. I've heard from a lot of you and I know how you love the game!! I'm frustrated by the lack of skill I saw on the field today but I've got to celebrate the fact that the Seahawks have some of the best fans in the league!!! Gooooo #12!!!
