Seattle Seahawks 28 - Indianapolis Colts 31

I apologize for getting this posted on-line rather late in the week but better late than never, right?!

Well ... another loss for our Seahawks. That's OK. I'm not going to panic! I wish we had some wins under our belt to give the guys confidence but I think we'll be OK anyway. We improved SO much from the first preseason game to this game! I can't wait for the "real" games to begin!

Penalties killed us in this game. I cringed every time a flag was thrown, knowing how Holmgren has low tolerance for penalties. I enjoyed seeing the difference of Holmgren on the sidelines compared to Erickson. Holmgren always looks focused and intent. Erickson often looked like he just didn't know what else to do. I don't know how the players perceive Holmgren's mannerisms, but they come across to me as a show of strength and leadership. It's very positive and I like it. When the Seahawks were drawing flags early in the game, Holmgren calmly motioned for them to settle down. He could have blown up. He could have looked frustrated. He could have thrown fits on the sidelines like some coaches would have. But instead, he used his hands to motion to the team to settle down. I liked it. Coach Holmgren has won me over already! (And those of you who know me know that wasn't a gimme!)

By the time I'm writing this, I've seen the cuts we made. I can't believe Michael Black has been released. I thought he did real well in training camp. I also can't believe we cut Michael Jackson. I was looking forward to seeing him bring in a lot of key receptions this season! Those two cuts in particular were upsetting to me.

Ahman Green didn't have a terrific performance in this game. I enjoy his running style and I love his speed, but he fumbled twice ... and broke my heart each time. This is a player I pull for -- he's already won my heart -- and I just really hate to see him struggle to hold on to the ball. Again, we know how Holmgren feels about fumbling. Ahman didn't help his case in this game.

Our defense was awesome, as it's been in every game this pre-season! We are going to have an exciting defensive game this season!

Our offense was ... well, I'd have felt better if Kitna had put a few more points on the board. The things we did well, we did very well. But every time we took a step forward, we took another backward. I guess I'll have to see some more play to make a believer out of me but I definitely think we're on the right track! The reception by Mayes on the goal line was outstanding!! I'm very happy that he came into the game with less than a week's preparation and still managed to get a touchdown on a difficult catch! Good for him!

Foley looked terrific! I think he's played well enough that we can forgive and forget his first pre-season performance. Whew!!!

Joey is still holding out, of course. I find myself indifferent. He's fun to watch and no one will dispute his talent, but I'll say it again -- if his heart isn't with us we don't need him. Forget the checkbook. No amount of money can make Joey love this team the way we, as fans, do.

And having said that, let's just jump eagerly to Regular Season! The games that count! I can't wait!! BRING IT ON!!!!
