Beef Stew Bordelaise

I'm starting to wonder why I have a recipe site when I steal all my recipes from Debe and her friends! Here's another that came to me by way of Debe. She was traveling with her Aunt Kathy and Uncle Joe in the D.C. area when they visited some friends and had this wonderful stew. The flavor is so delicious you'll want to eat till you pop!

There's much to be said for the aroma that fills your house while the stew is cooking, too! My daughter's date stepped in the front door, commented on how good the house smelled, and said, "Maybe we'll just stay here!" :-)

 
 
 
The only thing I haven't figured out yet is what to serve with the stew. The rest of the wine is the obvious answer, but I think it needs a good bread as well. Anyone have any ideas of what bread would work best? French bread? A biscuit, similar perhaps to the Cheddar Bay Biscuits served at Red Lobster? Any ideas out there?

Oh! Maybe it needs a tray of cheeses served with it. Or a cold relish tray with fruit! If you try something that works, please let me know!!

Oops, I almost forgot! Debe adds mushrooms when she makes the stew. And she doubles the recipe if she's serving a group.
