Ohhh, not only did we lose, we didn't have a very good performance. If you want to know more about the game, click here! Again I wasn't able to listen to games on the Internet so until the Premiership season begins, those of us across the ocean have to rely on the newspapers and word of mouth.

Chaffey did come out in the press this week with some comments about the Wizard Cup:

Richmond stars step forward

Although the focus is on round one of the home-and-away season, Chaffey said the Wizard Cup was a chance for the new recruits to blend into the team. "I think the Wizard Cup is a great chance for the young guys to show what they've got and for the older guys who've come from other clubs to start to feel a part of the side and to start to gel with the list," he said.

I found his comments to be interesting as he's demonstrating leadership and suggesting unity. My football perspective comes from years of following America's Seattle Seahawks, but I don't think you can put a price on the intangibles of a team, such as team comaraderie. If the Wizard Cup helps the boys build confidence in one another and the ability to know where each person is going to be on the field, then it doesn't really matter who wins now. Let's see the fruits of our labor when the "real" season starts! (If that sounds a bit like a copout for our loss, you're right, it is. I believe there are positives to take from a loss. How we grow from it is the important part.)

OK, now let's move on to the reviews for Chaffey for the week. I'll warn you...they're not good!

The Tigers also did not help their cause through continual turnovers with even Mark Chaffey, normally one of the best users of the ball in the side, costing his side a goal in the third term through a bad turnover in defence.

Kellaway and Chaffey didn't seem to have very good games at all. Chaffey got goose of the week with a shocking kick that set up a goal for the Saints.

There you have it! The "Goose of the Week" award goes to Chaffey!!

I'm not too fussed about it. With any luck we've got that out of our systems and can go on to win in the Premiership season!
