CHUCK KNOX and RUSTY TILLMAN
The XFL’s New York/New Jersey HITMEN today announced that football coaching legend Chuck Knox will join the team as an intern coach for training camp in Orlando, Fla. Knox will evaluate the team’s meeting and practice schedule this week (January 9-15, 2001), lending his expertise on both offense and defense to HITMEN head coach Rusty Tillman and his staff. Knox was a mentor to Tillman when the pair coached together in Seattle. Knox's first head-coaching job in the NFL was with the Los Angeles Rams in 1973. He took over a team that had gone 6-7-1 a year earlier and guided it to a 12-2 record and the NFC West championship.

Paul Skansi has been an assistant coach at the University of Idaho for several years now. Last year he was the instigator of a special play that allowed them to win in the closing moments of their final game and go on to play in the Humanitarian Bowl. Not of Sugar or Rose Bowl class but very competitive. His team also won that game.

JACK PATERA
If you were to look for Patera -- he lives just east of Cle Elum where Osprey Road crosses the railroad tracks, leading to a 10-acre parcel of land and a modest home with a metal roof -- you would find him content.

"I'm very happy," he said. "Things don't move very fast over here. The pace is exactly like I always wanted -- slower than slow."
