Sept. 20, 2007 - Salina, KS to Seattle, WA
Dear Diary,
I made it safely to Seattle! WA HOOOO!!!!!!!!! I was checked in at the airport in Wichita in about 13 seconds. Made it through security in about 46 seconds. (It took longer to take off my shoes and put them back on than it did to clear security!) The flight was on time and quite pleasant. My seat partner slept the entire way to Phoenix.

Phoenix is HUGE! I need to check the population, though I'm not sure we can get a realistic population because all the suburbs have grown together. From the air, it seemed to me to be the largest city I've ever seen. The mountains around the city are amazing, and seeing the desert from the sky is quite remarkable. The flight from Phoenix to Seattle left about 30 minutes late due to boarding problems. It was a FULL flight and it just took a lot of time to get everyone on the plane. It was a very bumpy flight - they called it "moderate turbulence". I closed my eyes and tipped my head back and pretended I was on a carnival ride! Our seat companions were a mother and a daughter headed to Seattle for a wedding. They were very excited, as the mother's brother had sworn he was never getting married. He's in his mid-30's and suddenly found just the right girl, so the whole family is very excited for him! They were very nice people and it made the
            flight quite enjoyable.
