Sept. 20, 2007 - Salina, KS to Seattle, WA
We landed in the new part of SeaTac Airport and do you think I could find baggage claims?!? I was following the signs until I got to one point where it said Baggage Claims this way. Once I walked past the sign, it said Baggage Claims that way, and pointed in the direction from which I had just come! I felt like an idiot but I had to ask for help! It took 3 people before I finally found someone to help me, and he was an airline pilot! He wasn't even sure because it was so new but his guesswork paid off! We no sooner got to baggage claims than there was our bag! HOORAY!!!

I called Jan and she magically appeared, and we were off!!! Ohhh, I LOVE THIS CITY!!!! It's especially nice because there's no awkward part of meeting up with Jan. It's like we've never been apart. She's SO nice, Tony too, and their daughter Dena as well! What a nice family!

Jan asked if I was hungry - she had packed a picnic lunch for us! She drove us to Commencement Bay in Tacoma and we had sandwiches, yogurt, bottled water and a tiny Snickers bar right there on the waterfront. It was terrific! Just a bit chilly, which felt good after the stuffy plane ride. The salt water smell is one I just love, and you know I loved eating outdoors in the gentle breeze! After we ate we went for a walk along the parkway there - it was quite lovely. I
could have stayed all day. Maybe all week. It's just nice to be on holiday and not have
a timetable for getting things done. We looked for harbor seals but didn't see any.
We saw military cargo planes flying overhead, barges on the bay, fishing boats ...
just stuff we don't see at home. There was some nice art work here and there
that I enjoyed. It was just SO nice!     [continue reading...]
