Coach Carroll's Second Season

The off-season started, or more appropriately, didn't start, with a lock-out while the owners hashed out the money ... er, details. When all was said and done, training camps were cut short and we had released our starting quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck. Tarvaris Jackson was named the starter, Charlie Whitehurst the backup, and Josh Portis, signed as a free agent with legal baggage, the third stringer.

The draft was rated highly and optimism was soaring. As Seahawks luck would have it, tackle James Carpenter, our first round pick, and guard John Moffitt, our third round pick (we traded our second round pick) were lost early to season-ending knee injuries.
