Week 16: Seattle Seahawks 21 - Arizona Cardinals 34

This was a game I thought we were going to win in the first half, then for a while both teams were fizzling, and finally Arizona woke up and decided they wanted this one more than we did. It's not a good game to send Holmgren off into the sunset riding the brand new red Harley that the players gave him, but it's the way the ball bounced. (Far too many times today, unfortunately.)

Instead of quotes by Coach Holmgren, I thought we'd let the players do the talking this week. Some great players have some very kind things to say about Coach Mike Holmgren, the coach with the most wins in Seahawks history.

Quotes by and about Mike Holmgren

BOBBY ENGRAM - "After everything we've been through this year, with all the ups and downs, and for us to stick together as a team and persevere and send Mike out of here on a note like that was special," wide receiver Bobby Engram said. "He's a special coach."

SENECA WALLACE - I came in as a guy that a lot of teams kind of passed on and said, 'He can't play quarterback in the National Football League,he's too short. He can't do this, he can't do that.' And Mike gave me that opportunity since Day 1. When I first got here, he said, 'Hey, you're a quarterback, and that's exactly what you're going to do.' And he's given me the opportunity to do that and to prove to people that I can play this game. And that's why I got a little choked up, because I know he's stayed with me since Day 1."

HASSELBECK - "We were playing the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, and he talked about basically what he was thankful for. It's part of his leadership style. At the end of the meeting, every guy in there felt like, 'Hey, I would take a bullet for this guy, or I'd run through a wall for this guy.' Or, to use an analogy that actually matters, 'I'd would go blow up a wedge for this guy. Or I'd play hurt for this guy.' And that, as a coach, that's a lot of times what you need."

WALTER JONES - "He'd proven himself wherever he'd been. I knew it was just going to be the best for us, show us the right way. And everything he has said has almost happened. I've got nothing but respect for him."

COACH MIKE HOLMGREN - "My reputation when I was first here was that I had every single answer in the book. I don't know, maybe I portrayed that somehow. I was learning, and I continue to learn and I have learned."
