Richmond V St Kilda Rd 16 2004 Saturday 17/07/2004 Telstra Dome

Some people are tipping this as a possible upset for the Tigers, now given Richmond's form and St Kilda's I personally can't see this happening. The main reason seems to be that the Saints are in the middle of a mini slump (interestingly Richmond seem to come up against a few sides in this ver predicament and generally allow them to play themselves into form) and that the Saints have a few out due to injury and a few form worries. They're undersized in defence and the prevailing view is that the Tigers tall timber up forward in Richardson, Schulz and Ottens will be too tall and too strong, but for them to kick the goals the ball has to get there and this is something Richmond have not been good at. The Tigers defence is, with the exception of Ray Hall, not over endowed with height either and with wonder boy Nick Riewoldt coming off a 9 goal performance against Melbourne I can't see any Tiger being able to hold him.

To give the supporters a little bit of a fillip after a deplorable effort against Essendon Richmond have recalled young guns Brent Hartigan (I don't know why he was dropped in the first place) and son of Michael Tom Roach, Daniel Jackson makes his debut after an encouraging performance for Coburg against Box Hill. Looking forward to seeing some of the kids run around, but not much else. Another loss in a very disappointing season.
